Gift for my Parents

Parents are a blessing sent to us by Allah. They are the people Allah chose to raise you. Every relation in this world can be replaced or has a substitute – except your parents. They are irreplaceable. The love and care your parents shower upon you cannot be put into words.  This is the reason why Allah has given them so many rights over their children. Even if children fulfil all of their rights, they still cannot compensate for the sleepless nights, sacrifices and so much more.

Many of our parents have passed away and many are still among us, alhamdulillah. Gift Charity’s ‘My Gift for my Parents’ sadaqa jariyat (continuous charity) campaign wants honour parents by gifting sadaqah on their behalf.

Allah Most High says:
“Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour. And, out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: “My Lord! Bestow on them your Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood.” (Surah al-Isra, v: 23-24)

The above verse highlights the importance of caring for parents by linking the most important teaching of Islam – tawhid (oneness of Allah), to being dutiful towards our parents. We can be caring and dutiful towards our parents by looking after them while they are alive and gifting charity on their behalf, we also can be dutiful and caring towards them if they have passed by making dua for them and gifting charity on their behalf.

The Gift that Keeps on Giving
Each one of us has a story to tell. Each parent and family have their own unique journey of sacrifice, love, devotion and legacy leaving. Through our ‘Gift for My Parents’ we want to highlight those special stories about our parents so that the future generations cherish and treasure their contributions and sacrifices, and that they are remembered and not forgotten.
