and Speech Competition
To inspire future ethical
leadership, Gift of Knowledge aims to nurture local and global talents through
annual debate and speech competitions. This annual competition will provide a
platform and an opportunity to develop critical thinking and the ability to
articulate in a coherent manner.
Topic Guidelines for
Debates and Speeches

Addressing social problems

Addressing social media and responsible use of
technological devices
§
Building work ethics to move away from dependency

Addressing education and youth employments
§
Developing character, values and ethical leadership
§
Inspiring to build divine connection
§
Other socially pressing and timely needing subjects are
also welcome
Debate
Competition Structure
Round 1 – Open Entries
§
Any team of 3 members can enter the debate competition.
§
1 presentation on the given topic by each team. The
allocated time for round 1 will be 5 minutes or less for each team.
§
There will be no time for rebuttal in round 1.
Round 2 – Semi Final
§
4 teams will be selected for semi-finals from round 1 open
entries.
§
2 teams will be debating for 5 minutes each (with 2
minutes each for rebuttal).
§
2 winning teams will be selected for the final round.
Round 3 – Final
§
2 finalist teams will be debating on s given topic.
§
1 presentation from each team for 5 minutes each, followed
by a rebuttal from each team for 3 minutes each.
§
There will be prizes for the winning team and runners up
at a prize giving ceremony. Where possible, the prize giving ceremony will be
attended by Gift of Knowledge representatives.

Depth of knowledge of the debating topic
§
Strength of convincing arguments and winning over the
audience
§
Demonstrating critical thinking ability and orating skills
for presenting and defending arguments
Speech
Competition Structure
§
Any student can enter the competition
§
Present a speech on the given topic for 3 to 5 minutes
§
Top 3 positions will receive prizes

Quran
Memorisation and Tilawah (Recitation) Competition
“Inspiring children
globally to become the companions of the Quran”
Gift of Knowledge wants to
inspire children globally to build a divine connection with Allah through
becoming the companions of the Quran. This annual competition will provide a
platform and an opportunity for children to excel in memorising the Quran and
reciting it correctly.
Memorisation Competition
Structure

Up to 3 categories (Beginner, Intermediate and Advance
Hifz students)
§
All students recite from 3 places (about half page or less
from each place)
§
Top 3 win the competition as first, second and third
